Recently my friend Siesta, has told me she

was hurt by what I wrote in my blog. I wrote

about kids in general, I wrote about thumb-

sucking, obese,mommas boys that feed

their brains on idiotic cartoons and video

games. What about going outside to play?

I don't see any future generation coming

up to provide hope to the world.

I do apologize to Siesta, and to all mothers,

that have 21st century younguns. I will try to

be more positive and more sensitive in

my reporting of childhood behavior.Happily,

I have no children. What about education?

Are kids learning anything?

Here's one idea:

Are you stressed?

I am working on eliminating stress,

recently I am making plans to get

out of the pool business. Why?, it

involves driving. Daily just a

trip down the roadway is taking your

life in your hands. Cell phones, while

driving, racing through stop lights.

Applying makeup while driving,

correcting the behavior of small brats,

eating, playing cd's, reading, sleeping,

shaving, changing clothes,

 having sex, watching goddamn tv!

what else? just drive!

better yet walk.

It is a danger out there shoppers,

If the traffic doesn't kill you the

stress will. ~ MK

Do a Periodic Stress Check

Ignoring stress could set you up for additional bad health habits.

Research shows that stress limits people's ability to control unwanted behaviors, leading them to make poor dietary choices, slack off on exercise, and indulge more in overeating, smoking, and caffeine consumption. Be extra cautious about your health choices during stressful times and protect your health with a plan for stress relief.

Daily Ray of Hope

According to the Organic Trade Association, sales of organic food reached $10.4 billion in 2003, a hearty 20 percent increase over the previous year. The boom in organics is good news: Consumers are finally paying attention to where their food comes from and using their purchasing power to get synthetic pesticides and growth hormones out of what they eat.

Whole Foods Market, or a Central Market,

are 2 places that I go for low sodium, no

nitrites, fresh foods. Field raised chickens,

and bulk nuts, granola, rice, etc.

Farmers markets are a good place,

for organic foods also. Stay away from

fast foods, think of fast food is fat food.

We Know Who We'd Choose....

"Wouldn't it be great if anybody who speaks out against this country, to kick them out of the country? Anybody that threatens this country, kick 'em out. We'd get rid of Michael Moore, we'd get rid of half the Democratic Party if we would just import that law. That would be fabulous. "

The Last Picture Show

A Special outdoor screening of

" The Last Picture Show "

is coming next friday, August 19th in Archer City, Texas.

To be screened at the exact location of the original film.

Road trip from Fort Worth. Who wants to go?

read: MOVING PICTURES

quote by Duane Jackson: "I'll see you in a year or two if I don't get shot."  As he leaves for the war

The time frame of the film 1951,

about a year-long period from November 1951, to the next late fall and told from the point-of-view of an 18 year old boy, chronicles how changes in the world, his own personal rites of passage, and the closing of the forlorn town's only 'picture show' (due to the coming of the isolating pablum of television) marked the economically-battered community's death knell and the passing of an earlier era.

more here: The Last Picture Show (1971)

Cybill Shepherd as Jacy

One of my favorite scenes is, at  At the community's Christmas party in the decorated American Legion Hall, a hillbilly country group plays songs as people dance. Outside, a goofy but citified Lester Marlow (Randy Quaid), who sips bourbon from a flask on the sly, invites Jacy to a "midnight swimming party" in Wichita Falls held by Bobby Sheen, a rich college boy that she met at the Country Club. She is intrigued that "everybody swam "naked" at the previous party with his folks gone, and the promise that "it'll probably be pretty wild."

Duane and Sonny

Jacy(Cybill Shepherd) tells Duane (Jeff Bridges) she has to leave him ,She blames her mother for making her promise to go to a swimming party in Wichita with Lester Marlow "'cause his folks are so rich." And she tries to calm Duane by confessing that "All I wanna do is stay with the man I love," and by teasing him by guiding his hand under her dress. She then quickly leaves the car, ditches her hot-and-bothered boyfriend, and steps into Lester's car. The Sheriff (Joe Heathcock) breaks up a fight that brews between the fuming "roughneck" Duane and a flustered Lester. The Sheriff says "I'm not going to stand here all night protecting your shoeshine" Telling Lester to "go on git !".

Wal-Mart's Woes

Wow. Type "Wal-Mart" into Google News and it's clear the big-box retailer is facing battles on all sides. "Proposed Wal-Mart Dispute;" "Wal-Mart Pulls Plan for East Lincoln;" "Planning Commission Rejects Wal-Mart Proposal"...and so on. The news making national headlines of course involves the sex discrimination lawsuit—which will be "the nation's largest private civil rights case" if it goes to trial. Talk about bad PR. Which is why now is a perfect time to lend your voice to a petition urging Wal-Mart to end its campaign against workers' rights.  [more]

More Reasons Not To Shop Walmart

Shoppers, I don't think it's a good idea,

to shop period. What do you mean? You say.

These younguns, are growing all the time,

they need clothes, shoes, papers, every

year the teachers ask for more items to buy

for the first day,

Well shoppers, I mean don't idle down

the isles of the local big box retailer,

Buy what you need. Buy from Costco.com,

 Costco ,the opposite of Wal-mart,

They have best of everything, instead of

selection of 1000's of crap and unnecessary

plastic objects. Buy what you need!

REASONS NOT TO SHOP WAL-MART HERE:

Child labor violations. Sex discrimination. Low wages. Lousy
benefits. All from Wal-Mart--a company that rakes in $10
billion a year in profits.

Wal-Mart needs a real education in how a rich company should
treat its workers.

And together, we're going to provide it by pledging to buy
back-to-school supplies from other stores this year.

S.T.F.U.

S T F U,  What does this mean?

What is this B.S. ? "Bull Shit" as Bob_Novak said,

What do all these ubiquitous acronyms mean?

This blog is not P.C. "Politically_Correct"

( the use of ,was the start of the decline of the Dems)

Most people know WWW. I am a member of

the AAA, BBB, DFA, FWBA, IPSSA,and so on.

We all know what the F word is or N word.

These are words so bad,

that you should not say them, sure people say

them, and often. Fuck, for example, I have

heard people use this as if it were verb

and it was used 3 and 4 times in every

sentence. The N , word or Nigger,

A word, on the admission of its

use , by Det. Mark Furman, may be the turning

point in allowing, "O.J." to be free,

after overwhelming evidence of murdering ,

2 people, of  nearly cutting his wife's head off.

"Nigger" has been used mostly in rap music,

which I call "crap" music, It does not deserve,

to be called music and i think it is crap. I

don't like it. I call it "baggy pants music",

This is what the age group that has pants ,

are so big and baggy, they are well below,

their ass. Sure I liked any music that had

cussing in it, in my "baggy pants" days.

"Goddamn the pusher man" was one.

"Don't call me nigger, whitey"

was one I used to listen to.

What about this S.T.F.U.? I have to admit

I had to Google it ,to find out, the meaning.

What started all this abbreviating of the lingo?

Instant messaging? I don't do "IM", I hate idle,

chit chat, and I especially hate it when ,

I have to type it. Are people really LOL?

(laughing out loud) I doubt it.

I had seen this "STFU",  on an ad for T-shirts.

Yesterday I was the coordinator,

for a blood drive. My first blood drive.

I had not given blood since my college days,

We would sell blood for $10 and then buy

14 oz Old Mil beers. I used to

sign yearbooks with

"Don't let what made Milwaulkie famous,

make a loser out of you"

Well for the first time in 30 years I am a blood

donor. I plan on having a conversation with

the Carter Bloodmobile for their promoting

of  all people WAL-MART !

In their efforts to improve their image they

are giving away $1000 shopping sprees to

blood donors. I am going to have to stop it.

Shoppers are you out shopping and

stopping at Starbucks?

I am quite an old dinosaur that strictly

drinks black coffee. I do like it strong,

and I will stop at 7-11 since they use

Citgo gas. Buy Your Gas at Citgo

These days shoppers are on the

cell phone driving and drinking a

half caf , half decaf cappuchino with

latte and extra foam.... in other

words a milkshake with caffeine.

I almost want fuel prices to rise

to over $3 a gallon. These caffeinated

shoppers at the stop signs can't wait.

It's hurry , go shop, pollute.

A gallon of gas is now $2.50 pre-

Bush it was $1.21, yearly, shoppers

spend 60 hours wasted in traffic.

now there are nearly 10,000 Starbucks,

as compared to 10 years ago 676 stores.

More cellphones are in use than "hard lines".

Andy Rooney said. on 60_Minutes "If Alexander Graham Bell hadn't invented the telephone, we could spend more time thinking about something important, and less time talking to each other about nothing."

Stopping for Starbucks? Get in line

More and more commuters are interrupting their daily drives to buy coffee or food -- a trend that's good for the economy but may be bad for air quality

TODAYS HEALTH NEWS

At my last dentist checkup, my blood

pressure was perfect. I owe it to

eliminating stressful situations, less

driving. No longer employ alcoholic

girlfriends. One major reason for my

health improvement, is cutting way

down on salt and salty foods.

Cut out the fast foods too.

Salt Assault

Sprinkling salt on already-salty fries? Time to hide the shaker. Too much sodium increases blood pressure,  but here are more specific examples of how it wreaks havoc on health. Test your knowledge of sodium-laden food by taking our Salt Assault quiz. While you're at it, foods to watch out for.

Daily Ray of Hope

The nation's colleges throw out more than 4.5 million pounds of food waste per meal. But more and more campuses are directing this food to soup kitchens, pig farms and to compost heaps. Ithaca College recovers 350 tons of food waste a year, saving $20,000 in landfill fees. Washington State University makes $50,000 a year by selling its compost to local garden stores and landscapers.

Want to keep up with the Sierra Club's latest activities and news? Sign up to receive Sierra Club Insider, the Sierra Club's flagship e-newsletter sent out twice a month.

Shoppers do you compost? Well you should,

The landfills are filling up fast with garbage

that  could be recycled or composted. Just

get a small 3 foot square area and use a

wire fencing, add all food scraps,

except meat and bones.

 Compost all leaves and grass.

Make sure to keep the food waste covered ,

with dirt or leaves, or you will have flies and

other unwanted pests.

What can you do besides boycotting this evil empire?

We  are strongly supportive of efforts to pressure the world's wealthiest company
to increase wages and alter business practices that are significantly
inceasing low-wage dead-end, benefit-less jobs. We organized a public
debate, shown on CSPAN, against The Economist magazine about Wal-Mart. We
even started a regular web feature by Liza Featherstone called Wal-Mart
Nation.

So we're very excited about the potential of Robert Greenwald's new
documentary, "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price," to raise more
awareness about what's wrong with Wal-Mart and why. The film should be a
powerful, emotional and entertaining way to help trigger change in the way
the company conducts business in the US and across the globe.
